YAAAAY! I’M 100 STRIPS TODAY!

This is the moment when I realized I HAD to start writing this comic. My two younger kids and I were walking along the creek near our apartments, exploring the world. When we came out, I saw a policeman looking for someone. Then I saw three more. And yes, that someone was me.

In mere milliseconds, the officer and I realized what had happened. Someone had seen a black man and two white children walking out of the apartments, and called the cops. It was at that moment I realized I HAD to make a comic out of my life. 10 out of 10 for neighborhood watch, minus several thousand for racial awareness.

Oh, and that was 2002. In McKinney.
